Breedingground Productions was officially founded in August of 2000 by Tomi Tsunoda and Sharon Eisman, graduates of New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

The company was founded in reaction to seeing individual artists in different disciplinary fields all struggling with similar obstacles and needs. Most artists who want to work on a project-by-project basis need to create producing organizations to get the work done, but the companies tend to fold within 2-3 years due to overwhelming administrative demands, debt, and a lack of long-term intent.

We decided to start a company that served these artists by bringing them together and providing alternative production opportunities that allowed independent artists to self-produce projects within a supportive administrative framework and creative community.
